Decisiveness In the Community

vs. procrastination

Processing information and finalizing difficult decisions

To practice Decisiveness, I will:

  • consider multiple options
  • not look back once I’ve decided
  • follow through on decisions
  • use principles as the basis for decisions
  • make good decisions despite peer pressure

Decision Fatigue

Decision fatigue is more than just feeling overwhelmed. It’s a state of mental and emotional exhaustion brought on by the constant strain of making decisions, big or small. Our brains, like any muscle, get tired. Each choice we make depletes its resources. As fatigue sets in, our ability to make sound judgments diminishes. We become more susceptible to impulsive decisions, prioritize immediate gratification over long-term goals, and are more vulnerable to suggestions. We might be paralyzed by seemingly trivial choices, like what to wear or eat for lunch.

So, how do we combat this decision fatigue and reclaim control? Habits and routines can relieve the brain from making a decision by acting on autopilot, saving decision power for more important decisions. Simplify your choices by reducing the number of options or creating a rotation for the options, such as outfits or meal plans. Delegate the decisions others can make and learn to say no to additional commitments that can drain your decision energy. Most importantly, learn to recognize when you have reached decision fatigue and postpone decisions in favor of rest.

This month, how can you combat decision fatigue and improve your Decisivensss?

The Links below will take you to Resources you can use with the family or within community organizations
