25 Years of Character… It Starts With Me
The 2025 Heroes of Character, “25 Years of Character” Celebration, will be held on April 8, 2025, at the Delta Marriott Hotel in Sharonville, Ohio. Hosted by the Character Council of Greater Cincinnati, in collaboration with Hamilton’s City of Character Coalition, this celebration will recognize individuals of all ages within the Tri-state area whom their peers have nominated as upstanding citizens and people of character who make a difference in this world. These “Heroes” all have their unique story, whether bouncing back from a setback to accomplish the amazing, doing the right thing no matter the cost or who is watching, or fighting injustice for those unable to fight for themselves. They set examples of care and compassion. They are the change within their respective communities.
In addition, we will be celebrating 25 years of serving the community with character-based inspiration.
Tips for a GREAT Heroes of Character Nomination:
- The form requires contact information (phone, email, mailing address) for the nominee, the nominee’s parents in the case of student nominations, and the nominator. Have these handy for an easy application!
- Please obtain permission from the nominee or nominee’s parents before nominating them. Once we announce the Heroes this makes for a much smoother process.
- Ensure your statement of character connects with the Character Qualities. Check out the page on All Character Qualities for the definitions of each.
- Need inspiration? Check out last year’s Heroes of Character Event Program to read about previous heroes.
- We are always humbled when we read the nominations we receive, but there are a lot of them! Please clearly illustrate the character quality(-ies) demonstrated regularly by the individual you are nominating. This also helps with adapting the nominations into the printed programs, as each Hero will have a paragraph on their nomination.
- Heroes should be nominated by someone other than a family member.
- Remember that the selection committee does not know your nominee, so please use the nomination form to introduce them to your candidate.
- And lastly, make sure you send it in on time! We will accept online entries until midnight on December 9, 2024. Mailed entries must have a postmark of December 9, 2024, or earlier.
