Another Name Game
For this activity, you will divide the group into smaller groups of 3 or 4. The object is for the group to come up with a name for the group using only the letters in the group members’ first names. In addition, the group name will become an acrostic, with each letter being the start of a word or phrase that describes everyone in the group. The group name does not have to be recognizable names, words, or even follow normal English word construction. It can be pronounced however they want to pronounce it. When each group is done, have them share out their group name.
To process the activity, ask these or similar questions:
- Did you like coming up with a group name?
- Was it difficult or easy to come up with the acrostic part that applied to everyone?
- Once you found out things in common, did you feel more connected to each other?
- (if the participants will see each other again, such as when a classroom or company department does this activity, then you can ask this question) Do you think you will remember the group name when you see any of the group members again?
