Eve Teaches Us About Discipline

Unfortunately, the lesson Eve teaches us is through her lack of self-control. She allowed the snake to tempt her into eating the fruit of the tree that God had forbidden her to eat. She knew the apple was from the forbidden tree. The devil was tricky in tempting Eve by telling her that God didn’t want them eating from that tree because it would make them like God. His explanation caused her to doubt God’s word and ultimately his abundant goodness and love. By distorting the words of God, the devil planted that seed of doubt. Our lesson in this story is that we need to ground ourselves in God’s word so that the devil can’t cause us to doubt it.
