Availability – 2018

If you look at the opposite of availability, i.e. self-centeredness you can better understand Availability by thinking of it as “other-centeredness”. It means looking outside of yourself to see where the needs of the community are and then pitching in. It is the opposite of the Me First mentality. When a sports team works together to achieve a win, they accomplish something that they could not do alone.  Each member of the team is available to the team effort.  Each member does their job for the team to win rather than an individual glory.

This month, look for ways to be available to the many teams and communities you belong to such as family, friends, work, community or classroom.
