Wisdom In the Community

vs. foolishness

Making practical application of what is learned

To practice Wisdom, I will:

  • seek out knowledge to fill in my gaps
  • learn from correction
  • choose my friends carefully
  • consider the consequence of my action
  • ask “what is the right thing to do?”

Wisdom in the Family

Focusing on Wisdom in the family can positively impact mental health. Parents can help children to develop their critical thinking skills by asking them questions and challenging their assumptions. Using this technique with choosing coping skills doubles the impact helping them learn how to deal with difficult emotions and situations in a Wise and healthy way. When you expose children to different cultures and perspectives, it broadens their horizons, and they learn to see the world from different viewpoints expanding their Wisdom. Reading is another way to expand their knowledge and better equip them to make Wise decisions and cope with challenges.

Parents who model Wise decision-making and discuss the steps with the family will show children how to make Wise choices. Praise children for their Wise decisions and show them how to learn from their mistakes so that they can make Wiser choices in the future. Creating a positive and supportive environment will make children feel loved, confident, and secure, and more likely to develop Wisdom and Resilience. Getting involved in your community as a family can help children feel connected to others, see the bigger picture, and develop a sense of purpose, leading to Wiser choices and a greater sense of well-being.
