King Asa Teaches Us About Faith
Aha, king of Judah, was the great-grandson of King Solomon. He was a man of great faith and worshipped God. He was known for ridding the country of false idols. When he was in battle, he relied on the Lord to help him win and keep his country at peace.
After many years of peace, Baasha, king of Israel, confronted him. Rather than continue to rely on the Lord and have faith in Him, he bribed Ben-Hadad I, king of Aram Damascus, to drop his alliance with Baasha and form an alliance with him. And though he won the battle, he lost favor with God because of his lack of faith.
