UPDATE June 8, 2020
Due to our current circumstances and the unknowns of the foreseeable future in regards to this pandemic, we have made the decision to move this year’s event to a VIRTUAL Heroes of Character Celebration. That means you can attend from wherever you are! And we have some very special surprises in store to make sure this will be a celebration to remember! We have also extended the deadline for nominations to June 30, 2020.
The year 2020 marks the 20th Anniversary of the Character Council which serves Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, and Southeast Indiana in our mission to foster character development in children and adults as a foundation for success. Over the years, we’ve helped people in a variety of different places make character an intentional part of their lives. As the State Sponsor for the State and National School of Character Awards, we’ve evaluated and helped schools achieve this amazing honor from Character.org, a national organization. We’ve held character development training for teachers, business leaders, police, judicial, churches, city leaders, and so many more. We couldn’t have done it without the support of the Tri-State Region.
This certainly isn’t how we pictured the year we celebrated our 20th Anniversary. While our resources have almost always been online, we’re doing our best to make the transition, as most people are, to a more virtual and digital age. Our programs and events may not look the same as they have, but with your help, we can still make an impact on the lives of those living in our region.
Despite the obstacles we all now face, here are some of the things you can do to celebrate with us:
Join
Shortly after the COVID-19 pandemic moved Governor DeWine and Dr. Acton to issue the Stay At Home orders, we launched a brand-new resource in the form of a Facebook group. We have posted several ‘Social Learning Units’ inside this group with more planned. The goal of these units is to bring the framework we use with Schools of Character into the home, to help alleviate the same problems that classrooms once faced. As we say with our educators, character is not one more thing on the plate – it IS the plate.

Our Annual Heroes of Character Celebration may look different this year with precautions we may have to take, including a virtual attendance option. We are still working on what this will look like in the fall, but in the meantime we need your help to find our Heroes! Heroes of Character and Student Heroes of Character are defined by how they act when they face obstacles. Do you know someone who has show great Compassion, or Courage, or Determination? Click on the banner above for information on how to nominate your Hero or Student Hero of Character for the 2020 Heroes of Character Celebration.
Donate
This unique campaign aims for 2,000 donors to give at least $20. Funds raised go to support programs in schools and communities and help us create and maintain the resources we offer for character building in many aspects of society. Using GoFundMe Charity means that you can share your donation on social media and encourage others to join you! Click the banner above to go to the campaign’s home page.
